TE AO WITH MOANA
SHOULD WOMEN SPEAK ON THE MARAE
Māori Televisions award-winning current affairs show, Te Ao with Moana, dedicated an entire show to discussing the issue of speaking rights on the marae, a topic which has attracted attention for generations. Whaia McClutchie, Materoa Reedy and Eva Rickard are a handful of wāhine who have challenged the way we regard certain roles on the marae.
Reporter Kimiora Kaire-Melbourne explores this topic with matriarchs Titewhai Harawira, Iritana Tawhiwhirangi, Naida Glavish, Turuhira Hare, Angeline Greensill and the new generation of wāhine Māori.
